Titus
3:1-2
"Remind them to be subject to rulers and authorities, to obey, to be ready
for every good work, to speak evil of no one, to be peaceable, gentle, showing all
humility to all men."
This
is a lot of instruction in so few words. Although each one of us are a citizen or
member of a heavenly kingdom, we are also a citizen or member of a nation of this world.
The LORD is telling us
that we must be good citizens of this world. We must show respect and be obedient to
those in authority over us in this world. That can be so very difficult on our own
strength. Many of us have employers who may be anything but kind or good.
However, GOD asks us to
not speak against them. He
tells us to instead be people who display gentleness and walk in peace.
The
only way we can be this type of person is to rely upon the grace of GOD.
He instructs us in
the ways of godliness through the HOLY SPIRIT.
If we learn to listen, we will be able to be mindful and considerate of others, and
we can say łNo˛ to ungodly behavior and worldly attitudes. We will learn self-control
and devote ourselves to doing good works. By doing so, we may find ourselves
participating with GOD in
drawing others to Him!
