Acts
11:12a "Then the SPIRIT
told me to go with them, doubting nothing."
In Acts 10 and 11, we see that the LORD
asks Peter to go to the Gentiles to share the Gospel by giving him a vision. In
this vision, he is asked to kill and eat an animal that his faith considers unclean.
When Peter says that nothing uncommon (or unclean) has ever entered his mouth. The
LORD says "What GOD
has cleansed you must not call common." (Acts 11:9b) How does this connect
with the Gospel and Gentiles? Well, to be quite honest, the Gentiles were
considered to be unclean.
When Peter realized
that GOD did not
consider them unclean because He
had 'cleansed' them, he was able to say yes to GOD.
However, we are human. Being humans who are imperfect, we wrestle with doubt
whenever GOD asks us
to do anything. No matter what it is! This makes what the SPIRIT
told Peter very important. First, one has to decide between two choices. To
go, or not to go. Once a decision is made, then one has to resolve the conflict
that often happens within them. Conflicts may simply be hesitation, having
moments of disbelief or wavering between having hope in what can be accomplished and
fear of embarrassment or failure.
When GOD
asks us to do something, He
does not want us to go doubting. He
has made provision for us. He
has prepared the way. And He
will finish what He
has started.
Join with me today, with an open heart before GOD,
as we go forth to do GOD'S
work without doubting.
