Isaiah
52:9
"Break forth into joy, sing together, you waste
places of Jerusalem! For the LORD has
comforted His people, He
has redeemed Jerusalem."
In
this passage the word 'redeemed' is ga'al in the Hebrew language. Ga'al is a custom
relating to the buying back of something a person has lost due to helplessness, poverty or
an act of violence. Usually the person who redeems this item is related to the
person who lost the item. This person does it because they are financially able to
do so for their weaker relative.
Jerusalem was being
oppressed and the LORD redeemed them! We
too have need to be redeemed from the oppressor of our lives. Not only that, but
there are things in our lives that need to be redeemed. The LORD
who redeemed Jerusalem from the oppressor also desires to bring that redemption into our
lives. Reach out today to the LORD
with your open heart to receive this incredible redemption
into your life!
