A Challenge In A Parent’s Life Is To Let Go And Let GOD.

As a mother of seven children there were times when I literally had to let go of my children and entrust them to GOD.  One year we traveled from Washington to a Montana Indian Reservation for a mission trip.  While in Montana, my teenaged children wanted to hike this trail to the top of the hill and back.  As we entered the canyon I looked at the hill and thought to myself, okay, it’s not too bad.  I decided to say yes.  The three boys and their friend ran up the trail ahead of us as we drove in.

Well, everything seemed fine until we arrived to the Pow Wow grounds.  Then I heard these tiny voices yelling from above and when I looked up I saw my boys and their friend hanging over the edge of a 1000 foot or more cliff waving frantically trying to get our attention.  My heart lurched as I realized the danger they were in up there! One wrong move and it would be instant death.  The cliff top was an overhang that jutted out at least 30 feet from the main part of top of the hill.

At that moment, I had to decide to say a quick prayer and trust GOD to take care of my boys.  We all waved and shouted our hellos.  Then I prayed GOD would bring them back down quickly to alleviate my fear.

That summer we went hiking in Washington and the boys and their friend of course climbed to the highest cliff they could find.  But as they waved down at me, I had the confidence to know that I could let go and let GOD have them in HIS loving hands!
