Timothy 6:18-19 "Let them do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to
give, willing to share, storing up for themselves a good foundation for the time to
come, that they may lay hold on eternal life."
Although this portion of scripture is speaking specifically to those who are rich, we
can also benefit from this. The wealthy have a greater responsibility to be good
stewards with their money. In Matthew 19:23-24 JESUS
speaks of how difficult it is for a rich man to enter into the Kingdom of
Heaven. Why is this? It is because of the terrible temptation of money.
It gives a person a false sense of security and if you are not responsible with
the money it can lead you down the merry path to destruction.
The LORD tells the
rich to 'do good, that they may be rich in good works'. Could we not all benefit
from this? There are so many people who are in need around us. Last night I was
making dinner with my daughter. I was attempting to mash the potatoes when I
felt serious strain in my back and neck. Mashing potatoes is such a small chore
and so simple. However, since my accident, I find myself in need of help. My
daughter jumped in immediately and took over. She was a perfect example of
someone doing good for others. Being a caring and giving person does not require
money. All it requires is a good heart.
Join me today with an open heart before GOD
asking Him to help
us become rich in good works. Let each of us store up for ourselves a 'good
foundation for the time to come!" open
