18:7-8a
“And
will not GOD
bring about justice for HIS
chosen ones, who cry out to HIM
day and night? Will HE
keep putting them off? I tell you, HE
will see that they get justice, and quickly.”
The above passage comes from the passage of the persistent widow. The widow
continued to go before a judge to request that he grant her justice against someone
who was an enemy of hers. This passage gives us the sense that someone was
intending her harm. The widow went before him more than one time requesting for
his intervention. At some point the judge decides that it would be better to
give her justice than to be bothered by her continuous requests for help.
Why does anyone need justice in this world of laws, police, lawyers, judges and jails?
One look at the news on the television or the newspaper and the answer is easy.
You live in a society that no longer gives respects those things. How much more
than in your personal lives. People harm you in many ways. Some have
suffered a break-in to their homes and suffered loss of material things. Some
have suffered from theft of personal items from work or their vehicle. All of
these things pale in comparison to the murders, robberies at businesses and multiple
vehicle accidents in a policeman’s perspective. But like the latter, the
former results in a deep feeling of loss of safety, security, and frequently justice.
But, unlike the world around you, your GOD
is concerned about justice for you where your adversaries are concerned.
However, not all your adversaries are physical ones. More often than not, it is
the spiritual adversary that is fueling the onslaught against your having a healthy
heart in the physical world around you. If you
can turn your eyes towards the spiritual and lay that before your GOD,
then HE can bring you
the justice you desperately need!
All that is required of you is to
ask HIM
for it. Remember that if an unrighteous judge will give in by persistence, how
much more will a righteous GOD
answer the requests of your heart
for justice? Therefore you should do just as it says in Luke 18:1b “that they
should always pray and not give up.” Knowing that your GOD
who cares about the condition of your heart
will answer you with justice against those whom intend harm against you. First
and foremost, and also most importantly, to the spiritual power behind them! |
