Corinthians 8:9 "For you know the grace of our LORD
JESUS CHRIST, that though He
was rich yet for your sakes He
became poor, that you through His
poverty might become rich."
This passage is often quoted when someone tries to tell us that we can name what we
want, claim it as ours. But that is not what this passage is talking about.
It is talking about our JESUS
being an eternal being, LORD
of heaven and Earth. Not a material wealth or an earthy wealth, but an eternal
wealth. By His
coming to earth in the form of a man, He
gave up all of that. He
poured Himself
out, through giving of Himself
while He
wandered amongst us speaking truth, sharing eternal life, extending physical healing,
and delivering people from demons that result in spiritual death.
While He
was here on earth, He
lived a humble life. He
owned nothing. In other words, He
had no worldly goods. You could say that He
lived in poverty, yet He
lacked no good thing. And, when He
was finished with His
message of faith and hope, He
took the most valuable thing He
had and gave it to us. He
laid down His life for us. Thereby, enabling us to attain a wealth beyond
compare. We also are wealthy because we too can live eternally with Him.
How can we? Because He
first raised Himself
up. Even as He
said, "Destroy this temple, and in three days I
will raise it up." (John 2:19) Even as He
is in heaven at the right hand of the FATHER,
we can be in heaven standing before the throne of GOD
upon our death and resurrection.
Join with me today with an open heart before GOD
and enjoy the wealth that our LORD
and GOD
has given us through the gift of eternal life. open
