Timothy 5:17-18 "Let the elders who rule well be
counted worthy of double honor, especially those who labor in the word and doctrine.
For the Scripture says, 'You shall not muzzle an ox while it treads out the
grain,' and 'The laborer is worthy of his wages."
The above Scripture is talking about those men and women who work hard within the
church body as ministers of GOD'S Word.
They are to be given both a double honor in their office and a salary that is
suitable to their needs to accomplish the work GOD
has put before them. Further, those who preach and teach should be honored above
those who serve in administration.
If you muzzle
an ox they cannot eat, they cannot drink, and they will perish. But in this day
and age there are many men and women who say they are doing GOD'S
will and yet they cause horrible suffering to the body of CHRIST
through their sins. Things like a pastor running off with his secretary or a
youth pastor sexually molesting the very teens he is supposed to be helping. This
causes us to mistrust those who are suppose to be our leaders.
How can we find a happy medium? Always start with looking at the root of the
teaching that is going on in the church. Is it biblical (in other words, examine
what is taught and compare it to the Word of GOD yourself)?
Are the people around you growing and changing (becoming more like CHRIST)?
Do you have peace when you are there? Pray, pray, pray. If you feel
something is not right, even if you can't put your finger on it. Run, don't
walk, for the door.
Once you do find a church
that you sense is right. Then do what you can to be sure your pastor is being
supported properly, not just by his people, but by those who are leaders above them.

and remove the muzzle from the ox. open
