Psalms
1:3
"He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth
its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall
prosper."
"And even now the ax is laid to the root of the trees. Therefore every tree
which does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire."
Matthew 3:10
Today, I want to talk about two types of
trees. Have you ever felt like you were caught in some kind of loop and couldnąt
escape it? I have, and I think most of us at one time or another have.
Sometimes, we find ourselves repeating the same situation over and over again. In
Matthew we are shown a picture of a person who through either disobedience or the
circumstances of this world has been caught in a loop that has brought destruction on
their life.
Sometimes, one single thing that we
do can lead to our not ever bearing fruit in our life. However, there is a way that we
can escape that loop in our life. It is by crying out to GOD
to help us. We
are totally, completely, unable to help ourselves when we are caught in this unseen
loop. And, only GOD
is able to, literally and figuratively, lift us out of it. We need to ask GOD
to lay the ax to the root of that problem so that we can see our
way of deliverance!
Once that is accomplished, we can become
like the tree in Psalms and watch as whatever we do prospers. This means everything,
including our families, our children, our marriages, our businesses, our ministries,
our jobs and our health. This is a slow process, however, remember that like the
race in the story of the hare and the tortoise that it was by the slow, focused and
deliberate efforts of the tortoise that allowed him to win the race.
