2 Timothy 2:22
"Flee also youthful lusts, but pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace with those who call on the LORD out of a pure heart."

    Although this scripture is primarily speaking to those who teach; I believe this can speak to each of us as well. What kind of things do the youthful lust?  Fame, fortune, success, marriage, perfection, and on and on.  GOD wants us to flee from seeking those things.  Why?  Because when we are only concentrating on finding those things, when we get them they are hollow (or without substance).  They do not satisfy us.  They do not fill the void that is within us.  That is because they are fleshly things.

    GOD instead asks us to pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace.  In other words, devote ourselves to spirit-filled living.  When we live by the spirit we will bear the fruit of the spirit in our life.  We begin simply by learning to depend on the HOLY SPIRIT'S life in us rather than depending on our own strength or the desires of our flesh.  

    By disciplining ourselves to draw on the power of GOD to aid us in our walk in the LORD, we can avoid the lusts of the flesh and devote ourselves to being led by the SPIRIT of GOD.

    If you find yourself seeking your youthful lusts and want to seek GOD'S kingdom, simply pray a simple prayer asking for forgiveness and His help to change your desires.

    Open your heart today and seek to live by the SPIRIT of GOD and trust that He will give you all you ask for and more in CHRIST.  Amen and Amen!
