Colossians
3:15 "And let the peace of GOD
rule in your hearts,
to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful."
This passage is speaking particularly to relationships; however, it also is
pointing out an attitude of our heart.
We are to be people of peace, peacemakers and peace givers. This is not an
easy thing for us to do. But not only does GOD
want peace to be deeply imbedded into our hearts
but He wants us to
realize that it is an action that is an important part of our Christian life as well.
GOD'S perfect plan was for human relationships to be
centered in righteousness. In other words, they should be founded in the spirit
rather than the flesh. How does that happen? By friendship. When you
have a friend then you think of how something may bless or possibly even negatively
effect that friend in all you do together. You frequently have things in common
that you share with each other. The last thing that we would ever do is
deliberately harm our friend!
Jesus is our friend and our brother! How was He
with His disciples?
He was kind,
caring, considerate, giving and compassionate. Who better to be like than Jesus.
When we stop thinking about our needs and concentrate on enjoying our
friendships, marriages, family relationships than peace reigns in the midst of them.
What if we did the same thing in Church? What if we didnąt care about getting
recognition for what we did What if it didnąt matter if Sister Joan brought
tuna sandwiches to a hot dog and hamburger barbecue instead of chips or buns?
What if it really wasnąt all that important how perfectly clean the chapel was?
Well, I think you would find peace reigning in the midst of a group of people. Where
GOD'S peace is
reigning you will find Him
in the midst!
Open your heart today and be a person of peace! |
