Psalms
42:5 "Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why so disturbed within me?
Put your hope in GOD,
for I will yet praise Him,
my Savior and my GOD."
Have you ever felt so low that crawling on the ground wouldn't feel low enough?
I have, and that has been since I've known the
LORD. When I was a very young
Christian and a young mother of one, I was afraid that my first son would be my only
child. I had a very severe case of Endometriosis which had kept me from having
children for almost five years. When the LORD
gave us our firstborn son, I didnšt fully understand the workings of the human body.
You see, the one sure cure of Endometriosis is to become
pregnant and then to have your child naturally. Which both happened to me.
I had prayed for a miracle and GOD
had given it. (However,
sometimes we donšt understand that we have experienced a miracle in our lives.)
All my friends were busy having their second or third children and I still was
not pregnant.
One night I was so sad and without hope that I
felt very downcast. I took out my Bible to seek some sort of encouragement from
the LORD. At
that time I was reading five Psalms and one Proverb a day for a month. I opened
my Bible to my devotion and to my surprise as I read Chapter 42 of Psalms, I found
this verse. It was water to my soul. As I read it, I realized that I
needed to stop concentrating on my desire for a child and place my trust in GOD.
He truly comforted me.
In 2 Corinthians 7:6, Paul was downcast because of his worry for the Corinthians.
There was great strife between them and Paul. It states that 'Nevertheless
GOD, who comforts the
downcast, comforted us by the coming of Titus.'
Titus brought word to Paul that
the Corinthians had reconciled themselves to him.
Whether
you are struggling over becoming pregnant with child or because of a break or bump in
a relationship, open your heart and GOD
will comfort you! |
