Ephesians
6:13 "Therefore take up the whole armor of GOD,
that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to
stand."
It is hard to imagine, looking around us in this day and age, that there will be an
evil day. Since that it true, it would behoove us to prepare ourselves now, while the
birth pangs are happening. The idea that Paul is putting forth is that we are
presently in a battle that is leadings to a deadly confrontation. Some of us may live
to see that day. But, in the meantime, we need to put on that armor to fight
this day that is before us.
The word withstand means to stand, face to face,
against an adversary and to stand our ground. In the Greek the word withstand
means anthistemi which is very similar to our English word antihistamine.
Antihistaminešs main purpose is to block the work of histamine in our body. The word
anthistemi tells us that with the authority the LORD
has given us through our salvation, and the spiritual
weapons He has given to us through
His grace
and provision, we can withstand evil forces.
Daily, each of us has to
fight the good fight. Sometimes, it is just in getting along with each other.
However, other times, it is to keep the enemy from stealing what belongs to us. Our
children fall in that category. For a short time GOD
entrusts us with their care. It is one of our personal
battle fields. We battle the 'world' for their hearts,
we can become the one thing that stands in the way of the enemy stealing their hearts.
Through the power of prayer, praise and loving kindness,
we can win each battle. Why?Because the battle is the LORD'S.
If we rely on the
LORD, we can find the answers
we need at the time we need them. Join me today with
an open heart before GOD
in the good fight for our children, and our children's children!
