Ephesians
5:1-2 "Therefore be imitators of GOD
as dear children. And walk in love, as CHRIST
also has loved us and given HIMSELF
for us, an offering and a sacrifice to GOD
for a sweet-smelling aroma."
After I accepted JESUS,
I got to know my Pastor's wife very well. She was a sweet and kind woman who
genuinely cared about the people in her congregation. On the other hand, the
woman who led me to the LORD,
who just so happened to be my next door neighbor, was
a go-getter and very outgoing. The only time I ever saw my Pastor's wife become
frustrated was with this woman.
Interestingly, I was
young in the LORD
and had wanted be like my Pastor's wife. When I saw
the way my friend treated my Pastor's wife and how she spoke about her to her friends,
I was crushed. I loved my Pastor's wife so much. But to be honest, both
women were in the wrong. My Pastor's wife had been pushed to the limit and was unable
to handle the harsh and critical treatment she received from my friend. My
Pastor's wife asked the woman to leave the Church finally and in doing so, she fell
off the pedestal I had her on.
At that point, my
husband, who was on the Staff of my Church, turned to me and told me that I
am not to follow a person, but to follow CHRIST.
In other words, I could not choose to follow my friend nor could I choose to
follow my Pastor's wife. I decided to follow CHRIST'S
example and love both women and not choose sides.
Loving
another person the way that CHRIST
loved us means accepting them just as we find them.
Open your heart today and love the people around you
in the same way that JESUS
loved us!
