Hebrews
11:1 "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things
not seen."
I have this poster beside my desk that my husband bought for me. It
is a picture of two kittens in a basket, lying among soft yarn dolls and knitted
blankets. On the handle is this adorable little kitten hanging on for what its
worth trying not to fall into that basket. The kitten is totally unaware of the
soft pile that it would land into if it would just let go. At the top of the
picture it says "Faith isn't faith until it's all you're holding on to."
With our GOD,
we can trust that what we hope for will happen! It means that we let
go of our own understanding which is based on what we see, what we know,
and what has been in the
past.
Then we
take the next step and let GOD
work in our lives what we are hoping for. In other words, we have an established
conviction that is based on what is unseen and a settled expectation of a future
reward. Therefore, our assurance rests on GOD'S
promises to us.
If
that kitten would let go of that handle he would
rest safely in the confines of the soft, comfortable basket. If GOD
cares for the lilies of the field and the animals that inhabit the earth, how much
more does He care for
us? Therefore, let us each open our heart today and let
go, let GOD care
for us and all our needs.
