Philippians 4:8
"Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy-meditate on these things."

I have stopped having the newspaper delivered to my door on a daily basis.  I have also stopped watching the news every single day.  I found that when I was keeping up constantly with the 'bad' news that is going on around us, that I would become extremely anxious.  There is so much new that discourages and disheartens that I had to draw a line in the sand and say 'no more'.

I still keep myself informed on a weekly basis.  My husband will update me on things I need to know, and I will watch a well know unbiased news channel every so often.  Why do I do this? Because as a wife, mother and grandmother my biggest job is to be an encourager.  How can I encourage my loved ones if my thoughts are most often on negative things?

Instead, I let my thoughts linger on the blessings of
GOD in my life.  I think of ways to bring hope and encouragement to my family.  I find ways to lift up my husband's spirit.  My faith and hope in the LORD and knowledge of who He is in my life is passed on to my family.  Today, put your mind to work thinking on the goodness of our GOD.  If you look into your open heart, I know you will find the hope and encouragement for your own family's needs.
