In this passage, the word heart
is talking about the inner person and the
physical
organ. However, we will concentrate on the inner heart.
The inner heart
encompasses our intellect, mind, inner feelings, deepest thoughts and
inner yearnings. So often, these are the things that can direct
the steps of our life. We can be so concentrated on them that
every decision we make and every step we take is directed with the
thought of how to obtain them.
Trying to accomplish these desires, in this fashion,
means working hard at something you may never obtain. On the other
hand, the LORD
offers us the ability to obtain the desires
of our heart
simply by delighting
ourselves in Him.
What happens to us when we delight
ourselves in the LORD?
What if we make a decision to delight ourselves in the LORD
and then the desires of our heart
are changed? Now, think about it. We can trust Him
to do only good in our lives. He
will never harm us. He
will never leave us and He
will never turn His
back on us.
Now if the Lord
is like this, then surely we should delight ourselves in Him.
And as for me, I had to face this Scripture some years back.
I took a chance on it, and guess what! The LORD
has been so good to me. One of my deepest desires was that I
wanted to raise my children out in the country and in one house. (Not
moving every three years!!) We were able to do that for our
children, thanks to the LORD.
It works! If you take a step towards GOD,
He
comes all the way to you!
Join me today, with an
open heart before GOD,
and take one step toward Him.
He
will be there waiting for you!
