Thessalonians 5:16-17 "Be joyful
always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is GOD'S
will for you in CHRIST JESUS."
As a mother of seven children, I can tell you how difficult it can be
to find time alone for prayer. When I was still young in the LORD,
I would feel the heaviness of guilt regarding my prayer life. I could rarely
find the time to sit down for even one full hour and pray. However, I would sing
songs of praise and worship throughout most of my day. Frequently, during my
singing, a person, or, a specific prayer need would come to my mind and then I would
begin to pray. Then I would go back to singing until another I felt the need to
pray again. This type of thing would happen many times through each day.
One
day, I shared with my neighbor my insecurity regarding my prayer life. I described
what my prayer life was like.
I was amazed when she looked at
me in astonishment and said,
"You
are praying continuously before the LORD!"
I realized that in between all the different things I was doing for my family, I was
also showing my care for the family of GOD.
What a relief it was for me to know that my prayer life was acceptable to GOD!
Now,
all the children are grown up and moved away, I am able to spend long blocks of time
in prayer as the LORD
leads. On the days that I am busy working long hours at my job at the hospital,
I try to practice praying and singing continuously. Regardless, whichever type
of prayer I find myself in, I am free. Why, because I
have an open heart before GOD.
I can do whichever works best in my life at the time it is best, with the
confidence that GOD
hears my prayers! And so can you!!
