2 Peter 1:5-8
"For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love.  For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our
LORD JESUS CHRIST."

To godliness, we add brotherly kindness.  Being kind towards someone in such a way that it seems as though we care for them.  It is surprising how an action can bring about a feeling.  We find it easy to be kind towards those we care for.  But for those that we have no feeling or natural concern for, it is much harder to display kindness.  In those cases, we extend the same type of kindness forth and by putting forth the action a feeling of care and concern will result.  The LORD went so far as to say to us to be kind towards our enemies.  Now this is hard indeed.

    In Romans 12:20, the
LORD tells us; 'If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink.'  In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head.   Now in this passage, I have heard some preachers state that by being kind to our enemies, GOD repays them with a curse.  But how can that be when in verse 21 it says, 'Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.'  In the time that this was written, women went around carrying large vessels on their head that had burning coals in it.  These coals were what was used to restart the fire as they moved about.  These coals were life to them.

    When the
LORD said we would heap burning coals on their heads, it meant we would be imparting life to them!  See how important having brotherly kindness can be!  It can mean imparting life to another.  Join with me today, in asking our GOD to help us to open our heart towards blessing those we donšt have concern or care about, yes, even our enemies!
