Matthew 12:20
"A bruised reed HE will not break, and a smoldering wick HE will not snuff out, till HE leads justice to victory."

    A bruised reed is one that has been bent over.  We are very much like this bruised reed.  Our lives bring about troubles and trials that can be so much of a challenge that we feel as though we are bent over.  Sometimes we are bent over because of the weight of our burdens.  Other times we are bent over because of the incredible sadness or oppression of our burdens.  At times, we often feel as though we might break from what is happening around us or to us.  But JESUS makes a promise that although we may be bruised or bent over, we surely will not break!

    A smoldering wick is one that still has the capacity to catch fire.  Have you ever felt as though what you are going through will most certainly destroy you?  Just like a smoldering wick, your hope is there waiting to fire up again.  JESUS will not snuff out our hope.  HE promises instead that HE will lead justice to victory!

    In our hearts we can become bitter and discouraged when all around us seems to cause us to smolder and/or become bent over.  JESUS offers us victory in our individual circumstances.  HE desires that our hearts remain open to HIM, trust that HE will not break us or snuff us out.  And have faith that HE will bring about justice in our lives, which will lead us to victory!
